The town of Middleborough, Massachusetts (pop. 23,500; budget $60 million) is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Confidential Secretary to the Board of Selectmen. Responsibilities include performing varied functions requiring comprehensive knowledge of departmental operations and the exercise of judgment in responding to inquiries, in dealing with the public, and in administering the functions of the office, in accordance with established departmental policies and standards. Perform other office duties as required or directed. Requirements include a high school diploma and broad specialized training equal to two years of college. At least three years of progressively responsible experience in administrative work or office management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Starting salary is negotiable with the Board of Selectmen - Commensurate with Experience. A job description is available upon request. Grossly overpaid town employees got us into this mess. Some are overpaid, underworked and incompetent. That's why the recall should have succeeded. The Town needs a good housecleaning.
